African Humanist Forum

HISTORY OF THE FORUMS

The first Humanist Forum was held in Moscow on the 7th October 1993. Since then, several forums have been held in Europe, Asia, North and South America and in Africa.

Ist HUMANIST AFRICAN FORUM
Dakar 2006
In the first African Humanist Forum that took place in Dakar 2006, we decided to take a new path for Africa and we said: “Today is born the sign of a New Africa, reconciled with herself, where the Human Being is the central value above all other interests. A New Africa with respect for the most positive aspects of our traditions, our cultures, our religiosity. A New Africa that brings dignity to our continent and beauty for the human beings that live here. To take this path means engagement and unity.”

II HUMANIST LATINAMERICAN FORUM
Latin America united without wars and without violence
“On the 23rd, 24th and 25th of November 2007, we met in La Paz, Bolivia to realize the II Humanist Latin-American forum. The forum was opened by the President of the Republic of Bolivia, Evo Morales Ayma.”
“The Bolivian process is an example for the whole continent and the world. New Humanist recognizes the genuine coincidence with the principles of non-descrimination and non-violence that inspire the govern of Bolivia, when implementing their revolutionary project. Bolivia is showing a road of liberation and humanization for our peoples.”
“We make our own the proposal of President Evo Morales to include in the constitution the renunciation of war for all countries of the region.”

1ST NORTH AMERICAN NEW HUMANIST FORUM
“In New York City on the 16th, 17th and 18th of November 2007, social, political and cultural organizations from Mexico, Canada and the United States met together with representatives from Africa, Europe and Latin America to launch the North American New Humanist Forum.”
“Today, a new region is starting to take shape in our minds and in our hearts. We aspire to a North American Human Nation as a step on the way to the Universal Human Nation. For this work we count on the richness of our diversity and the spirit of the new generations that have captured the sensibility of these new times.”

EUROPEAN HUMANIST FORUM
3│4│5 November 2006 IN LISBON
“For a long time, we have been saying that if there is only one model and it doesn’t work, we need an emergency exit, and we have been building the humanist road as the exit. Today it is evident for all that this neo-liberal system has failed.”
“Europe needs to surpass the laws of the market to liberate its enormous abundance of knowledge, of technology and of resources and put them at the service of all human beings and people of our Earth.”

The Humanist Movement is interested in creating a Universal Human Nation. This can only be done by bringing together the wide diversity of opinions that exist in the world and forging together the new world that we all want based on peace, nonviolence and solidarity.

Everyone is invited to Humanist Forums as long as they don't promote violence and discrimation.
